Adding 3D objects to your map in RoveIQ is a powerful way to enhance the user experience by depicting real-world landmarks and adding visual interest. These objects help users recognize locations quickly, improving spatial awareness and navigation. Whether it’s a building, sculpture, or unique structure, 3D objects introduce depth and dimension that brings your map to life.
RoveIQ supports standard WebGL model formats: .gltf and .glb.

Use a 3D modeling program such as Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, or Blender to create your model.
Optimize your mesh. Reducing polygon count improves map performance, especially on devices with limited graphics capabilities.
- Export the model as .GLTF or .GLB and upload it into the RoveIQ Portal.

Upload Your 3D Object to the RoveIQ Portal:
- Navigate to Maps → Custom 3D Objects
- Click New Custom Object
- Complete all required fields.
- Navigate to Maps → Custom 3D Objects
- Name: Enter a recognizable name for your 3D object.
- Description: Provide a description to help identify the object’s purpose.

Custom Object Latitude / Longitude: These coordinates determine where the object appears on your map.
Need help finding coordinates? Use https://geojson.io/.

Scale / Rotation / Altitude: Adjust these values to size, rotate, and position your object.
If the object does not appear on the map, try dramatically increasing or decreasing the scale. Incorrect scale is the most common cause of “invisible” objects.
- Custom Object In Background: When enabled, routing lines will draw over the 3D object. Useful when your entire base layer is modeled in 3D.
