The Computer Vision dashboard in RoveIQ gives you insight into how many people are in front of your screens, how long they stay, and how they interact with your content. This guide walks you through how to access the dashboard and what each data field means.
Note: Computer Vision is an optional hardware add-on that must be purchased and installed with your deployment. If you do not currently have Computer Vision enabled and would like to add it, please reach out to our sales team here: https://www.roveiq.com/contact .
Accessing the Computer Vision Dashboard
- From the left-hand navigation, click Dashboard.
- At the top of the dashboard, click the Computer Vision tab.
- Use the venue and filter dropdowns at the top of the page to choose which location or screens you want to analyze.
- Use the date range picker in the upper-right corner to select the time period you’d like to view.
- (Optional) Click Save as PDF to export a snapshot of the current Computer Vision dashboard.
All Computer Vision data is aggregated and anonymized. Values are estimates generated by AI-based models and are best used for trends, comparisons, and directional insights rather than exact headcounts.
Understanding the Summary Metrics
At the top of the Computer Vision tab you’ll see several large summary tiles. These give you a high-level view of how your screens are performing over the selected time range.

Total Persons
The total number of people detected in front of your Computer Vision–enabled displays during the selected date range. Each person detected contributes to this count, similar to an impression. -
Total Dwell Time (Seconds)
The combined amount of time (in seconds) that people spent within the viewing area of your screens. This measures how long a person remained near the display, regardless of whether they were directly looking at it. -
Total Attention Time (Seconds)
The combined amount of time (in seconds) that people were actively looking at the screen. This is a subset of dwell time and reflects focused attention, not just presence.
Understanding the Charts
Age Count
The Age Count bar chart shows how many people were detected in each age range (for example: under 18, 18–24, 25–34, 35–44, 45–54, 55–64, and over 65).
Age ranges are estimated by the Computer Vision model and are not exact. Use this chart to understand general audience trends and demographics.
Smiling
The Smiling pie chart shows how often viewers are detected as smiling while in front of the display. Typical segments include:
- No Smile – Viewers not detected as smiling.
- Weak Smile – Viewers with a slight or subtle smile.
- Strong Smile – Viewers with a clear, strong smile.
This chart helps you gauge overall viewer sentiment and engagement.
Gender
The Gender pie chart shows the distribution of viewers across gender presentation categories, such as:
- Male Presenting
- Female Presenting
Gender is inferred by presentation only and is not a statement of identity. Values are estimates and are intended purely for high-level demographic insights.
Dwell Time by Hour (Seconds) (EST)
The Dwell Time by Hour line chart shows how total dwell time (in seconds) changes throughout the day, broken down by hour in Eastern Standard Time (EST). The x-axis represents the hour of the day (0–23), and the y-axis shows the total dwell time during that hour.
Use this chart to understand when your screens receive the most attention and to identify peak hours for scheduling important content or campaigns.
Using the Data
Together, these metrics and charts help you answer questions such as:
- How many people are seeing my screens?
- How long are they staying nearby?
- When during the day do I get the most traffic and attention?
- What are the general demographics of my audience?
- Are people engaging positively (for example, smiling) with my content?
