How to Create an AR Selfie App

Before users can enjoy the fun and interactive experience of taking a selfie with augmented reality filters, you’ll need to create an AR Selfie App. This app serves as the foundation for the entire experience, acting as the hub where users can access filters, take selfies, and share their creations.

1. Navigate to the Apps Page:
   • Go to Content and select Apps.
     
2. Create a New AR Selfie App:
   • Click on the (+) Bubble in the top right corner of the page and select AR Selfie from the list.
     
     
     
3. Configure the App Settings:
   • Click on the Gear to configure the new Events App
     
   • Assign an icon that represents the events app.
   • Choose a color to customize the app's appearance on the map.
     

4. Save the Selfie App:

   • Once you have configured the icon and color, click Save to complete the setup.
     
5. Save the Apps Page
   • Scroll to the bottom of the webpage and click Save.
     

Add Selfie Filters from the RoveIQ Asset Store

Adding selfie filters to the AR Selfie App in RoveIQ is a quick and straightforward process. With a variety of filters available in the RoveIQ Asset Store, you can enable the perfect overlays to enhance user engagement and create fun, memorable experiences.

1. Navigate to the Selfie Overlays Page
   
   • Go to Content and select Selfie Overlays.
     
2. Browse Available Filters:
   • On the Selfie Overlays page, you’ll see a list of every available filter in the RoveIQ Asset Store.
   • Browse the collection to find filters that fit your event, theme, or branding.
3. Enable the Desired Filters:
   • Use the toggle switch next to each filter to enable it for your AR Selfie App.
   • Enabled filters will become immediately available for users in the app.
     
4. Test the Filters:
   • Open the AR Selfie App on a test device or kiosk to confirm that the selected filters are available and functioning as expected.

Create Your Own Selfie Filters for the AR Selfie App

Custom selfie filters let you design unique, branded experiences that enhance user engagement. Whether for a special event or ongoing promotion, creating your own filters is simple.

1. Design a Foreground Image:
   • Create a Selfie Foreground Image with a transparent background using a graphic design tool like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva.
   • Save the image as a .png file to maintain transparency and ensure proper overlay functionality.
2. Create a Selector Image:
   • Design a Selector Image that will appear in the AR Selfie App as the preview for the filter.
   • Use a simplified or small version of your foreground design to visually represent the filter. Save the selector image as a .png file.
3. Submit Your Filter:
   • Once your foreground image and selector image are complete, send them to Rove Support for integration. Use this link to submit your request: Rove Support Submission Form. Be sure to include:
     • The foreground .png file.
     • The selector image .png file.
